Shy Sophie

by Mabel
(Melbourne)

I only just got my little Sophie yesterday!! My husband and I are amazed at how well behaved she has been since we got her!! So much so that I'm almost a little worried!
Since we got her she has been quiet and kept to herself. She will find a corner to sit in and will not move from there. We have tried stimulating her with toys but she almost seems too shy! Most puppies are playful and happy! When I picked her up from the breeder yesterday I had a look at the litter she came from and she was much more tranquil than the rest but she was still running around and barking.. (still much calmer than her siblings) hence why I picked her. But now that she hasn't displayed any of the more "normal" puppy inquisitiveness or playfulness, I'm starting to wonder whether she's sick (she has had her vaccines to date and is eating well, drinking plenty of fresh water and going to the loo normally) or if this behaviour continues to this extreme (fearful/shy) may develop into aggressiveness in adulthood. I wonder if anyone else has had a mini schnauzer like my Sophie?!
I'm hoping this is just an period of adjustment for her and she will come out of her shell I'm the next few days! Fingers crossed!

MEG: MABEL YOU ARE RIGHT - IT SOUNDS LIKE SIMPLE ADJUSTMENT TO ME AND THIS IS TOTALLY NORMAL. SHE HAS JUST BEEN TAKEN FROM HER LITTERMATES AND ALL SHE KNOWS. JUST GIVE HER A FEW DAYS. ALSO HAVE HER CHECKED IMMEDIATELY BY A VET JUST IN CASE.
