I have a mini I rescued when she was about 18 months old.
She was so lovable always wanting to be with you and in your lap.
About 3 months ago she suddenly stopped being lovable and now won’t come when I call her and doesn’t like to be petted. By the way I’ve had her 2 years this month.
I have no idea what happened to her. I took her to the vet and have had her checked out and he has no answers. Is this typical, will she come back to the old dog she was? I hope you can give an answer. She’s a great dog but I want the old Betsy back. Thanks

Perplexing problem you’re having with Betsy. (Has anyone else out there experienced this issue?)
Like your vet, if she is not actually ill, there is no obvious single probable other cause I can think of.
However, I think it would be worth trying a few things…
1. Check there is nothing distressing happening to her when you are not around. Also.. has something changed at home that you can put your finger on? e.g. got a new dog? changed house? new baby?
2. Get her out regularly each and every day at the same time for a brisk walk (20 minutes minimum). Its great for depression and I know schnauzers adore to get out and about every day.
3. Get her diet up to scratch. Follow the raw meaty bone diet (with the home made dietary supplement and other foods added) as described on this website. Have heard of it working wonders on other dogs for all sorts of issues.
4. Have her spayed if she is not already done.
